Child Protection Policies & Procedures

We at Irvinestown Lawn Tennis Club are committed to good practice which protects young people from harm. Members, coaches, officials and voluntary helpers accept and recognise their responsibility under the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (N.I.) Order 2003 to provide an environment which promotes the safety of young people at all times.

In order to safeguard the young people in our care we will:

Develop an awareness of the issues which may lead to young people being harmed.

Create an open environment by identifying a ‘contact person’ to whom young people can turn if they need to talk.

Adopt child centred and democratic coaching styles.

Adopt child protection guidelines through codes of conduct for players and all players and adults working in the club. Adults may include coaches, parents, leaders and volunteers.

Ensure careful recruitment, selection and management procedures.  Ensure complaints and disciplinary procedures are included in our constitution.

Share information about concerns with young people and parents and others who need to know.

Provide information as required to management committees.

Be involved in training made available through the various agencies and strengthen links with these

Follow Governing Body guidelines on good practice for coaches.

Keep the Child Protection Policy under regular review.

In the final Craig got the upper hand early on but Kyran fought back to take the trophy.

The Under 8 plate was a similarly close fought contest between Conan and Grace who had to face some tough opposition on their way there in the shape of Zara Flack and Josh and Jack Largo Elis.

The Under 8 Doubles contest was a round robin of 5 pairs in the end the very close winners were Jack Largo Elis and Zara Flack closely followed by Odhran Mahon and Conan Whiteley who both showed great determination in their play. There was some fine play in the doubles especially from Mairead Malone and Timothy Boomer. Josh Largo Elis and Alexandra McCurry were also close to the leaders as were Craig Hulmes and Grace

Whaley.

The tournament was sponsored by Raymond and Iris McBrien , the referees were Sinead Maguire, David Lowe, Karen Whaley and Liam McQuaid and half way through George Beacom brought welcome sustenance for all the players so a big thank you goes to George and the Bawnacre staff for their help.
